Making shapes with our bodies

This has been a great week. We are learning about shapes, the children were able to create some cool shapes in the playground. To think that on Tuesday we made these and on Thursday it started snowing is hard to believe.

What a beautiful day to make shapes with our bodies. This is a circle as you can see.

This rectangle took a lot of friends working  together! it looks awesome.

Our circle looks more like a pentagon, but it's still great.

The weather was so beautiful and warm that the sun made these students face down. What a great triangle.

What shape can you make with only 2 people? a triangle of course.

This is a fantastic rectangle!

5 senses

Humpty Dumpty helped us this week with our sense of hearing; using plastic eggs filled with different things to use as sound shakers was a great activity. The children got to shake them and then compare the sound they made, then grade them from loudest to softest.

Talking about the 5 senses has been fun this week. We have done lots of experiments and learned to be aware of the world around us. Balloons were filled with rice, flour, water, beans and seeds, then the children had to match the same textures together; of course without looking in the bag.

we tasted things that were sour, sweet, salty and bitter for our sense of taste. We also smelled bottles and classified them into good smells and yucky smells.

The kids enjoyed touching our touch board with different textures on it.

Thanksgiving party

Thanksgiving is here!  The weather in Texas is always inpredictable. Where else can you have a picnic and almoat freezing on the same week??
Thanksgiving party in pre-k was awesome. We made our Native American headbands and our teepis made out of icecream cones and icing! I hope all of you have a great Thanksgiving.

making a teepee with an ice-cream cone, green icing and chips for decorations was the highlight of the party, but I guess they had as much fun eating them as making them.

My Family

Pre-K has been busy learning and sharing about our family. We are noticing how all families are different but they are all special. The children have enjoyed making a family tree with the family and sharing it in class, they are so proud of their family. After the learners present their family tree they choose a student to compliment their work, it it a great way for children to be proud of what they do.
Feel free to come to school to see their tree displayed.
In this unit we are also learning about different celebrations and traditions as families which include dance and food. This has been a great opportunity for us to learn the kind of food do we eat. We are encouraging the children to notice the color of food that is on their plates, the more color the better. That's why we made a Rainbow of food.

Literacy Parade

Dressing up as a book character was so much fun. The children had a great time seeing the older students on parade.

Here are the girls

some cute boys

Having a parade in the middle of the week with lots of crazy and cute costumes it's a great way to get ready for Halloween.
Pre-K was a great place to be today. The children were all excited to show off their costumes and share their book. All of the story characters were so cute, we had Power Rangers, Princesses, Doctors, Fairies, Firefighters, Thomas, Cat in the Hat, Poodles, Olivia and Chicka Chicka Boom Boom!

We all got to read the story  "Go Away Big Green Monster"by Ed Emberley.
We chose shapes and got special scissors to create our own Big Green Monsters. They turned out so adorable and a little scary.
We had a parade to end the day, it felt great to see so many parents ready to cheer for the kids.
Thanks for a great day and have a safe Halloween.
